Dustin has actively led a Canadian middle market private entity generating over $150 million in revenue, recruited into the President role on behalf of a US based private equity fund as part of their CEO succession plan. During his tenure, Dustin identified, negotiated, and closed a key $5MM strategic acquisition unlocking over $1B of market opportunity while concurrently participating in a corporate sale process, successfully renegotiated several major contracts in a declining commodity price environment, and expanded the entities Indigenous engagement efforts from two to nine partnerships. He previously served as Vice President, Corporate Development for a public energy service company, responsible for merger, acquisition & strategy across North America and internal operational initiatives across the three core divisions.
Prior thereto, Dustin was a Vice President and Principal in a Western Canadian private equity fund focused on energy service and industrial companies operating primarily in North America and investing on behalf of 170 limited partners across three funds totaling $140 million. During his tenure, he reviewed more than 250 deal opportunities and directly participated in the valuation, structuring, related due diligence, and ultimate placement of funds totaling over $80 million in a variety of subsectors with unique business drivers. Preceding this role, Dustin was an Associate with ScotiaWaterous, the energy investment banking arm of Scotia Capital/Scotia Bank.
Dustin holds a Bachelor Commerce from the University of Calgary, achieved his Chartered Accountant designation after articling with KPMG and routinely attends professional development opportunities hosted by the Institute of Corporate Directors. He has also worked at length with Calgary based NOESIS, one of very few training and consulting firms in the world specializing in the neuroscience of leadership and human performance. His passion for entrepreneurship, building teams and community also led to over a decade of involvement with Calgary based Momentum, a not-for-profit focused on using a community economic development approach to poverty reduction, ending his tenure as Board Chair.
